I have received this question by email and request form and posted on the message board. And now I finally have an answer.

The decision will be made by an impartial panel of 5 High School Baseball Web members.

The award will be open to any high school player that can provide proof he (or she) will be continuing their education and participating in a college baseball program, for the 2003 season.

The decision will be made on a purely discretionary basis, by the panel. No weight will be given to a player's ability, high school team success, college team classification, or geographic location.

However ... academics WILL be important. This does not mean that our recipient must be an honor student. High school coaches, teachers and guidance counselors will be contacted. We are looking for student-athletes that are hard workers in the classroom, good citizens and will be a credit to the High School Baseball Web community.

  This must be in the student-athlete's own words -- I can spot a parent's letter a mile away! There is no set minimum number of words required -- Just let us know what is important to you, in your own words.

  This should be in Microsoft Word format and can be attached to an email.

Letters of recommendation can then be submitted via regular mail.

Winners will be required to do an interview for the High School Baseball Web and provide a photo to be used on the site.
